About 2100 films were
submitted to the organizer of Dubai
International Film Festival from 115 countries, starting from the well
developed countries like USA, UK, France, Japan, India to developing countries
such as Trinidad and Tobago, Burkina Faso, Angola and Madagascar. Over the last
nine years, DIFF has showcased the best films in the world that allows the
audience to become professional film commentator in the film industry, and the
emergence of new talent. The number of films every year is increasing.
The
Four Films that are proposed
to the Dubai International Film Festival 2012
Rajan Khosa's Gattu, Musa Syeed's
Valley of Saints, Ashim Ahluwalia's Miss Lovely and Anand Gandhi's Ship of
Theseus are four Indian films selected. The films will be nominated to the DubaiInternational Film Festival 2012. The festival will take place from
9 to 16 December 2012. Gattu is a film about a street kid who followed his
dream, Gattu discreetly observed by a jury of young talent at the Berlin Film
Festival 2012.
The film is produced by Children's Film Society of India and won
the Best Film award at the New York Indian Film Festival 2012. This film has
also been screened at Zurich Film Festival 2012. Valley of Saints tells the
story in which Gulzar plans to run away from the war and poverty surrounding
his village in Kashmir with his best friend, but a beautiful young woman who
was researching the lake in the village prompted him to contemplate a different
future. This film has won the Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize 2012 and the
World Cinema Audience Award: Dramatic at the Sundance Film Festival 2012.
Miss
Lovely tells a story of two brothers who produced the film class C, Miss Lovely
won the Best Film award and was awarded the Golden Trophy Gateway India at
Mumbai Film Festival 14th 2012. Earlier, the film was screened at the Festival
de Cannes to-65. While the last film, Ship of Theseus tells a philosophical
paradox of change and identity that explores ethical dilemmas, moral and
aesthetic of three characters. The film premiered in India at Mumbai Film

Cate
Blanchett was Chosen as a Judge in Dubai
International Film Festival 2012
It was reported on 6 November
2012 that the Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett was chosen to be one of the
judge candidates in the prestigious film awards in Dubai. The other judges were
Abdulhamid Juma, chairman of the Dubai
International Film Festival, Georges Kern, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen, the
event sponsor awards, Olivier Pere, Director-General of the Paris-based Arte
France Cinema and Masoud Amralla Al Ali, Artistic Director of DIFF. Ashley Judd
is the actress that will be selected to be the next festival at Dubai International Film Festival 2014.
Dubai Film Festival will be held
later this year in December. All elected and nominated films from around the
world have registered, as well as the judges and the people who will be
involved in it. All aspects have been prepared well for the implementation of
the Dubai International Film Festival
in 2012.
